The History of the "Mozarthof"
The area in Salzburg Gnigl has been used as an industrial area since 1935. When the Preimesberger company stopped producing industrial kitchens at this location, the "Mozarthof" commercial and residential complex was built on parts of the original area.
Under the leadership of the architectural partnership WILHELM HOLZBAUER and RUDOLF SCHEICHER, the building was originally planned as a commercial and office building. According to sources, the building was supposed to be architecturally reminiscent of the Alps.
In the run-up to the WEB scandal in 1995, the project got into trouble. The entry of the GSWB and the state of Salzburg "saved" the project at the time by converting the building from the second floor onwards into subsidized rental and owner-occupied apartments and repurposing it. The construction of the complex was managed by the "Arge Mozarthof".
If residents are wondering why the windows were built so high (up to the ceiling), this is because it was originally planned as an office building.
In mid-1996, the apartments in the Mozarthof were handed over to the future tenants and owners.
